How do I start?

You can reach out to me a few ways. To schedule a free 20 minute consultation, you can book here or email me directly at hello@tamaraclarkson.com. You can also call me at 281-864-3532. I look forward to hearing more about you and answering any questions.

Who do you work with?

I partner with adults on a range of issues, from depression and anxiety to career fulfillment, burnout and the job search.

How much does a session cost?

Sessions are $190 for your first counseling session (60 minutes), then $170 for every session thereafter (45 minutes).

Do you take insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider and don’t bill insurance for treatment. If the cost of counseling seems out of reach, you can see if your insurance company may partially reimburse you for my services as an out-of-network provider.

  1. First, find out what your out-of-network coverage is. If your card states PPO or POS, call the number on the back. If your card says HMO, you likely do not have out-of-network benefits.

    • Ask the following questions:

      • “Do I have out-of-network coverage for behavioral health?” This question will tell you whether or not out-of-network therapy is covered by your insurance plan.

      • “What deductible do I need to meet before you will start reimbursing?” This will tell you how much you need to pay out of pocket before they will start paying you back for some of the session cost. Even if you weren’t originally planning to use insurance, it might still be worth working towards meeting your deductible so you can get money back when you meet that amount.

      • "What percent do you cover?” It could be more or less, but the answer is often 50-80% of what they call “allowable” reimbursement. Every insurance company has a set “allowable” amount it’ll cover for a given service. For example, I might provide a service for $170, but an insurance company could say, “Our allowable reimbursement is $130.” They would then pay 60% of $130, not 60% of $170. While I can’t answer why their system is set up this way, the important thing to know is that you’d still receive a portion back for each session, reducing your overall cost for counseling.

  2. Second, download the Reimbursify app here. The Reimbursify app makes things as easy as possible for you (they do charge $3.99 a claim), but you can always contact your insurance company to learn their unique process to submit an out-of-network claim.

  3. Third, ask me to send you a “Superbill” each month. This is a special kind of invoice that lists specific information on the type of service you received with what diagnosis. You can’t be covered by insurance without a diagnosis they are willing to cover. I will talk to you about what diagnosis would fit your experience.

  4. Fourth, upload your superbill to Reimbursify. It takes about 2 minutes! After submitting for the first time, you can just click “clone” or duplicate and it’ll cut your submission time down to about 30 seconds. And no more steps! Once you hit your deductible, your insurance company will start mailing reimbursement checks to your mailing address.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept debit, credit, HSA, or FSA cards. Payment is processed at the time of service.

What are your hours?

I conduct sessions from 10 am-2 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. I hold sessions 10 am-5 pm on Fridays. Depending on the time of year, I can sometimes meet earlier or later on a temporary basis.

What is your cancellation policy?

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Before your appointment, you’ll receive a reminder email and/or reminder text message, ensuring you have adequate time to reschedule your appointment if necessary. If you aren’t able to cancel within the 24-hour window, you’ll be charged the full fee.

How long is a session? How often should we meet?

Your first session will be 60 minutes so we can go through your paperwork, identify your goals, and discuss how we can work together. Every session thereafter is 45 minutes.

In terms of appointment frequency for counseling, I recommend clients initially schedule for once a week. Many times, after clients make progress, they move to meeting every other week, then every month, then graduate from therapy.

For career counseling or job search coaching, clients typically have a range of 1-8 sessions based on their needs.
